Arboretum LifeSciences launches with USD 30m Series A to expand genomic medicine access

Cambridge, Massachusetts-based Arboretum LifeSciences launched with a USD 30 million Series A financing led by F-Prime, GV, .406 Ventures, Hims & Hers, and Amgen, aiming to build genomically profiled patient cohorts for precision medicine and drug development in common diseases.

Arboretum integrates clinical genetic testing with AI and longitudinal health data, working with healthcare providers to expand access to genomics while creating molecular registries that can support biopharma activities including target discovery, patient stratification, and clinical-trial recruitment. Initial healthcare partners include Advocate Health, Geisinger, Providence Healthcare, and Cardiovascular Associates of America, with an initial focus on cardiovascular, metabolic, and autoimmune diseases.

The company’s model is designed to give drug developers access to large, genomically characterized cohorts linked to longitudinal clinical data and consented for recontact, potentially allowing patients with relevant molecular profiles to be identified more efficiently for clinical studies.

Arboretum was founded by veterans of the Broad Institute’s Data Sciences Platform. Co-founder and CEO Anthony Philippakis, M.D., Ph.D., previously led the platform and is also a general partner at GV, while president Clare Bernard, Ph.D., previously served in senior leadership roles within the same group. The Broad platform has developed large-scale genomic and clinical-data infrastructure including Terra and patient-focused registry tools.

Arboretum is applying a molecular-stratification model more commonly associated with oncology to common diseases, where clinical development has historically relied on broader patient populations. Amgen participated in the financing, though Arboretum did not disclose a specific drug-development collaboration with the company.

Arboretum does not currently disclose an internal therapeutic pipeline. Its biopharma offering instead centers on molecular data, patient recruitment, and potential new development models built around genomically defined populations.
