BreezeBio raises USD 60m Series B for mRNA-based nanoparticle pipeline

San Francisco-based BreezeBio Inc., formerly known as GenEdit, a biotechnology company developing targeted genetic medicines using nanoparticle-based delivery systems, closed a Series B financing round at USD 60 million. The funding will support advancement of its internal pipeline of precision genetic medicines toward clinical development, including lead candidate BRZ-101, an mRNA-based therapy designed to restore the immune response in type 1 diabetes.

The round was led by Yuanta Investment and DSC Investment, with participation from SV Investment, Kiwoom Investment, STIC Ventures, and Top Harvest Capital. Existing investors including DAYLI Partners, Pathway Investment, Loftyrock Investment, Korea Investment Partners, WOORI Venture Partners, KDB Silicon Valley, and ACVC Partners also participated.

Proceeds will be used to advance BreezeBio’s internal therapeutic programs toward clinical entry and to expand the capabilities of its NanoGalaxy delivery platform, according to the company.

BreezeBio’s lead candidate, BRZ-101, is an mRNA-based immune modulation therapy designed to restore immune tolerance in type 1 diabetes by delivering encoded autoantigens and tolerogenic co-factors to antigen-presenting cells. The program is currently advancing into IND-enabling studies.

The company is led by CEO Kunwoo (Ryan) Lee, Ph.D. BreezeBio’s underlying delivery technology has also supported prior strategic collaborations, including a multiyear collaboration and license agreement with Genentech to develop nanoparticle-enabled genetic medicines for autoimmune diseases. Earlier partnerships have included a collaboration with Editas Medicine focused on nanoparticle gene therapy delivery.

Previous financing rounds include a Series A announced in 2021 and subsequent Series A1 financing disclosed in 2024, supporting the development of the company’s delivery platform and immunology-focused pipeline.
