Janux Therapeutics unveiled a collaboration and exclusive worldwide license agreement with Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS) to jointly develop an undisclosed, novel tumor-activated therapeutic targeting a validated solid tumor antigen expressed across multiple human cancer types. The deal sees Janux responsible for completing preclinical development through investigational new drug (IND) submission, after which BMS will assume responsibility for clinical development and global commercialization, with Janux supporting the initial Phase I study.
Financial terms include up to USD 50 million in upfront and near-term milestone payments to Janux, with BMS committing to around USD 800 million in aggregate development, regulatory, and commercial milestones, plus tiered royalties on worldwide product sales should the program reach market.
The San Diego-based Janux offers three proprietary development platforms – Tumor Activated T Cell Engager (TRACTr), Tumor Activated Immunomodulator (TRACIr), and Adaptive Immune Response Modulator (ARM) – to allow the development of drugs that activate immune responses specifically in the tumor microenvironment while minimizing systemic toxicity. The company currently has two TRACTr candidates in Phase I trials: JANX007, targeting prostate-specific membrane antigen in metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer, and JANX008, targeting epidermal growth factor receptor in multiple solid tumors.
The deal underscores continued industry interest in next-generation immunotherapies that address challenges in solid tumor oncology by coupling innovative tumor-activated designs with the clinical development and commercial scale of a global pharma partner.
