Kinaset Therapeutics Secures USD 103 Million to Advance Inhaled Asthma Therapy
Boston-based Kinaset Therapeutics has closed a Series B financing round of USD 103 million to propel its lead respiratory drug candidate through clinical development. The company, focusing on novel inhaled therapies for respiratory diseases, will use the funding to advance frevecitinib (KN-002), a pan-JAK inhibitor targeting severe asthma patients with inadequately controlled symptoms.
The round was led by RA Capital Management and Forge Life Science Partners, with participation from EQT Life Sciences, Vivo, Schroders, Willett Advisors, Pictet, Sixty Degree Capital, and existing investors including Atlas Venture, 5AM Ventures, and Gimv. The company said the proceeds will support its ongoing Phase 2b clinical trial, which received US FDA investigational new drug (IND) clearance in Q1 2025.
Kinaset's lead asset, frevecitinib, is an inhaled dry powder therapeutic targeting both eosinophilic and non-eosinophilic asthma phenotypes. Following successful Phase 1 trials demonstrating safety and preliminary efficacy, the company is preparing to initiate a 12-week, dose-ranging study in patients with severe asthma uncontrolled by standard therapies. The company's previous funding includes a Series A round, though specific details were not disclosed.
