IQVIA (NYSE: IQV) and Medera Inc. have announced a collaboration to advance Medera's cardiac gene therapy pipeline and its Novoheart human cardiac organoid platform, pairing a clinical-stage biotech's proprietary discovery infrastructure with IQVIA's global trial execution and regulatory capabilities. No financial terms were disclosed.
Under the agreement, IQVIA will provide clinical trial execution, patient recruitment, data management and regulatory support for Medera's Sardocor gene therapy programs targeting heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF), heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF), and Duchenne muscular dystrophy-associated cardiomyopathy. Medera retains ownership of its technology platforms.
The collaboration also includes Novoheart's human ventricular cardiac organoid platform, which Medera uses for preclinical disease modelling and drug evaluation. The company's lead HFrEF gene therapy program entered Phase II development earlier this year following review by an independent data safety monitoring board.
The agreement is Medera's first announced collaboration with a global clinical development partner since completing its Nasdaq listing.
