San Sebastian, Spain-based Oncomatryx, a biotechnology company focused on tumor microenvironment-targeted therapies, has raised USD 67 million in a financing round to support the clinical development of its antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) pipeline built on what it describes as “quantum ADC” technology.
The round was led by Asabys Partners, with participation from existing investors including Alta Life Sciences, Ysios Capital, and new backers such as Invivo Capital and the European Innovation Council Fund. The company said the proceeds will be used to advance its lead ADC candidates into clinical trials, expand manufacturing capabilities, and further develop its discovery platform targeting cancer-associated fibroblasts within the tumor microenvironment.
Oncomatryx is focused on targeting the peritumoral stroma, a complex network of fibroblasts, endothelial cells, and extracellular matrix that supports tumor growth, invasion, metastasis, and resistance to therapy, particularly in aggressive cancers such as pancreatic and infiltrating breast adenocarcinomas. Rather than attacking tumor cells directly, the company’s approach aims to disrupt this supportive microenvironment by targeting overexpressed stromal proteins associated with poor prognosis. Its platform combines diagnostic monoclonal antibodies for patient stratification with the development of biologics—including antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) and immunotoxins—designed to selectively act on stromal components.
