Princeton, NJ-based QuantX Biosciences has closed an oversubscribed USD 85 million Series B financing round, signaling strong investor confidence in the company’s computational drug discovery approach. The round was co-led by LAV and Sanofi Ventures, with additional participation from Hongshan and existing investors.

The financing will support the clinical development of QuantX’s lead oral small molecule inhibitors targeting STAT6 and IL-17, positioning the company to advance its pipeline of immunology and inflammation therapeutics. Wei Li, the company’s Interim CEO, characterized the round as a “watershed moment” for QuantX’s drug discovery efforts, highlighting the company’s ability to rapidly design and optimize therapeutic candidates using advanced computational methods.

The platform

Founded in 2022 by veteran drug hunters Wayne Tang and Yax Sun, QuantX has developed a unique computational drug discovery platform that integrates physics-based modeling, statistical methods, and computational chemistry. The approach allows the company to rapidly design and optimize drug candidates against clinically validated targets, with a particular focus on immune-mediated and inflammatory diseases.

Previously incubated by OrbiMed and Creacion Ventures, QuantX has now raised a total of USD 130 million. David Wang from OrbiMed noted the company’s distinctive value proposition, emphasizing its ability to deliver best-in-class assets with remarkable speed across multiple therapeutic indications.

The company’s current research focuses on oral small molecule therapeutics, with lead candidates including:

  • A STAT6 oral small molecule inhibitor
  • An IL-17 oral small molecule inhibitor
  • Potential oncology-focused PARG inhibitor programs
