Sweden-based AAX Biotech AB and Daiichi Sankyo (TSE: 4568) have advanced their research collaboration into an active antibody program following an initial evaluation of AAX Biotech's scFv-stabilization platform, Opti-mAb. The companies, which first announced the collaboration in October 2025, said the work is being led by scientists at AAX Biotech and the Daiichi Sankyo Research Institute Munich. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Opti-mAb is designed to stabilize single-chain variable fragments (scFvs), which can be prone to aggregation and instability when incorporated into complex therapeutic formats such as bispecific antibodies and chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) constructs. The decision to advance the platform into an antibody program followed the initial evaluation, although the companies did not disclose specific technical results or evaluation criteria. No drug candidate, molecular target, or indication has been disclosed, and the collaboration remains at the research stage.
For AAX Biotech, the latest move follows an April partnership with Switzerland-based evitria AG to integrate Opti-mAb into commercial antibody engineering and expression workflows under a research license.
