Boehringer Ingelheim has licensed K Pro, the agentic AI Scientist platform developed by New York and Paris-based Owkin, along with multimodal patient data spanning oncology and immunology, in a deal that adds a third top-10 pharma partner to Owkin's K Pro roster within four months.
Under the agreement, Owkin will license existing multimodal oncology datasets to Boehringer and generate new immunology data through its global patient data network. Boehringer's research teams will access and analyze both through K Pro, which provides a unified environment for hypothesis generation, testing, and prioritization. The deal builds on a 2025 pilot in which Owkin delivered spatial tumor microenvironment insights via its MOSAIC dataset for a Boehringer gene target. Financial terms were not disclosed.
The data generation component distinguishes this arrangement from a pure software license. Rather than simply granting access to an existing model, Owkin will actively produce new immunology datasets for Boehringer — positioning Owkin as a data infrastructure provider alongside its AI platform role. Boehringer's immunology franchise, which spans respiratory and autoimmune disease, provides a clear internal use case for that newly generated data.
The Boehringer deal follows Owkin's three-year K Pro license with AstraZeneca in May 2026 and a multi-year K Pro collaboration with Sanofi signed in June 2026, in which Owkin is building bespoke AI agents end-to-end for Sanofi's discovery workflows. The Sanofi relationship itself expanded from a prior EUR 90 million (approximately USD 104 million) strategic partnership initiated in 2021.
