California-based Infinimmune, a biotechnology company developing antibody therapeutics derived directly from the human immune system, has closed a USD 75 million Series A financing to advance two wholly owned monoclonal antibodies targeting complementary pathways in atopic dermatitis, with both programs expected to enter first-in-human studies in 2027.
The round was co-led by Regeneron Ventures and Playground Global, with participation from RA Capital Management, Goldcrest Capital, Forge Life Science Partners, Godfrey Capital, and Wild Tree Ventures. Existing investors Merck Global Health Innovation Fund, Everbright Biofund, Civilization Ventures, and Pear VC also participated. The company said proceeds will accelerate clinical development of its two lead programs, support additional pipeline candidates, and fund continued deployment of its Anthrobody discovery platform. Playground Global led Infinimmune's USD 12 million seed round in December 2022, when the company was founded by a team of five researchers who had worked together at 10x Genomics on single-cell sequencing and immune repertoire technologies.
Infinimmune's lead asset, IFX-101, is a half-life extended, fully human monoclonal antibody targeting interleukin-22 (IL-22), a pathway for which no approved biologic currently exists in atopic dermatitis. Its second program, IFX-201, targets IL-13 — a validated cytokine in the Th2 inflammatory cascade — and is positioned by the company as potentially best-in-class relative to approved IL-13 inhibitors tralokinumab and lebrikizumab, on the basis of neutralization potency and extended dosing intervals. Both candidates are pre-clinical, with first-in-human studies planned for 2027.
