Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Limited (NSE: SUNPHARMA) and Cincinnati-based LIB Therapeutics Inc. announced an exclusive licensing agreement granting Sun Pharma rights to commercialize and manufacture lerodalcibep outside the US and China.
Under the agreement, LIB will receive an upfront payment, milestone payments, and royalties on net sales, with other financial terms undisclosed. Sun Pharma will also pursue regulatory approvals in licensed territories where the drug has not yet been cleared.
Lerodalcibep is a once-monthly PCSK9-directed recombinant fusion protein marketed as Lerochol in the US and Lyrokaul in the EU. The US FDA approved Lerochol in December 2025 for adults with hypercholesterolemia, including heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia, while the drug received EU approval shortly before the Sun Pharma deal. Phase III studies showed sustained LDL-C reductions of around 60% across populations with, or at elevated risk of, cardiovascular disease.
China is excluded from the agreement because Everest Medicines (HKEX: 1952) holds Greater China rights to lerodalcibep. China's NMPA accepted Everest's biologics license application in June 2026.
